New multi-storey car park opens in Bolton

The Topp Way multi-storey car park has opened in Bolton today, three months after the new Deane Road multi-storey car park was opened last December.

The new four-storey car park is located in Bath Street, boasts 794 spaces and will be in operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It was completed as a joint project between Bolton Council and the NCP (National Car Parks).

Bolton Council’s executive member for development, Cllr John Byrne, remarked: "The car park will play a significant role in supporting future developments in the town centre and should also bring in new visitors."

The car park features a number of state-of-the-art facilities and features. These include an intelligent and ecological lighting system where lights are only switched on in those parts of the car park that are being used. The car park also has five charging points for electric vehicles and the first "Changing Places" facility in the town centre of Bolton, which is a toilet and changing facility for severely disabled people.

NCP's manager in Bolton, Mike McNeil, commented: "We were delighted to team up with Bolton Council in producing this state-of-the-art parking facility. We hope the Topp Way multi-storey car park, with its extra facilities, will offer something much more than just a place to park for work or shopping visits.”
